Similar to transcreation, copywriting is the process of drafting a text to your specifications, including register, length, visuals and audience. I work on a range of document types, from blog posts and slogans to press releases, emails and brochures.
I take inspiration from your requirements and documentation and draw on glossaries, articles and specialist sites. If need be, I contact industry experts to produce a relevant and striking text.

Values

While a company can offer an alluring sales pitch, attractive rates and a sense of security,
there are values that only a freelance translator can guarantee.
Here is an idea of the added value I can bring as a sole trader.

Think time savings, lower costs and, most importantly, optimum quality!

Ethics

When you trust me with your documents, you can be confident of dealing with a French native speaker and translator who translates only into French, in line with one of the baseline principles of the SFT translator code of conduct.
I also promise to only accept documents in subject areas that are familiar or of interest to me. But don’t panic: your article about traditional angling techniques may not be my line of work but I’ll be delighted to refer you to a suitable colleague with no outsourcing fee!

Trust

Your documents will remain confidential. My translations are never used without your prior, written consent and your emails are not passed from one inbox to another. I am attentive to your needs and you can be sure that your requests will not slip through the net along the way. I am happy to sign a confidentiality agreement to ensure a relationship of trust.
I am also mindful to remain transparent in my own communications (rates, deadlines, receipt of documents, feasibility, etc.). I am also your sole point of contact for document dispatch, quote preparation, amendment requests and billing.

Know-how

How do I ensure stylistic and terminological coherence in my translations? I do so by asking the right questions early on. For instance, am I addressing ‘your customer’ or ‘your customers’? What format do you use for times and dates? Do you apply non-breaking spaces before unit symbols and double punctuation marks?
Crucial to consistent communications, these factors underline my high standards and know-how. For multi-translator projects, I coordinate and monitor the translation process by drawing up style guides, ensuring the coherence of texts and handling changes to the original content.

Profile

Alice Touch

Alice Touch

Qualified translator and ÉSIT graduate

Born in Paris to parents of Chinese origin, I have always been passionate about languages and foreign culture. After a science-oriented baccalaureate, my love of languages won out and I took the literary path.

I lived in England from 2007 to 2008 before gaining a degree in English, German and Chinese and going on to enrol in the ÉSIT School of Translation and Interpreting. I graduated from ÉSIT with a Master’s degree in editorial, economic and technical translation in 2011.

I then worked in translation agencies as an in-house translator/proofreader. After several years working in-house, I had translated more than 500,000 words and revised more than 3,000,000. I also honed my skills in transcreation and copywriting, producing slogans, drafting promotional texts and reflecting on the graphic charter.

In 2015, I became a freelance translator and built a business to reflect my character, combining my skills and passion.
As my company name Ampersand (&) may suggest, I am looking to be the link between you and your clients by assisting you with your communications.
I offer my services to translation and communications agencies, companies, institutions, magazines and more.
